Muhammad or Allah? Muhammad! Says Muhammad.

Muhammad or Allah? Muhammad! Says Muhammad.

peaceforever

Introduction:

One of the important features of a prophet must be upholding God over his own self, dedication of his life to God's purpose. Even though I am an agnostic, I hope every muslim will agree so in this aspect. So, was Muhammad such a person? who was important for Muhammad, service of god? Or service of his own self? Invariably every muslim would emphatically choose the former one. The purpose of this short yet hard hitting article is to examine this very belief that muslims have.

Evidence:

As I said I will keep this article short and present a very few instances (in fact a couple) but sufficient enough to dent this belief of Muslims. Ibn Kathir records certain shaih Hadiths regarding surah Al-Fatihah[1]:

Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal recorded in the Musnad that Abu Sa`id bin Al-Mu`alla said, "I was praying when the Prophet called me, so I did not answer him until I finished the prayer. I then went to him and he said, (What prevented you from coming) I said, 'O Messenger of Allah ! I was praying.' He said, (`Didn't Allah say),

(O you who believe! Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he () calls you to that which gives you life) He then said,

«لَأُعَلِّمَنَّكَ أَعْظَمَ سُورَةٍ فِي الْقُرْآنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَخْرُجَ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ»

(I will teach you the greatest Surah in the Qur'an before you leave the Masjid.) He held my hand and when he was about to leave the Masjid, I said, `O Messenger of Allah! You said: I will teach you the greatest Surah in the Qur'an.' He said, (Yes.)

(Al-Hamdu lillahi Rabbil-`Alamin)''

«نَعَمْ هِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُوتِيتُهُ»

(It is the seven repeated (verses) and the Glorious Qur'an that I was given.)''

Al-Bukhari, Abu Dawud, An-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah also recorded this Hadith.

Also, Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Hurayrah said, "The Messenger of Allah went out while Ubayy bin Ka`b was praying and said, (O Ubayy!) Ubayy did not answer him. The Prophet said, (O Ubayy!) Ubayy prayed faster then went to the Messenger of Allah saying, `Peace be unto you, O Messenger of Allah!' He said, (Peace be unto you. O Ubayy, what prevented you from answering me when I called you) He said, `O Messenger of Allah! I was praying.' He said, (Did you not read among what Allah has sent down to me,)

(Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he () calls you to that which gives you life) He said, `Yes, O Messenger of Allah! I will not do it again.' the Prophet said,

«أَتُحِبُّ أَنْ أُعَلِّمَكَ سُورَةً لَمْ تَنْزِلْ لَا فِي التَّورَاةِ وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ وَلَا فِي الزَّبُورِ وَلَا فِي الْفُرْقَانِ مِثْلَهَا؟»

(Would you like me to teach you a Surah the likes of which nothing has been revealed in the Tawrah, the Injil, the Zabur (Psalms) or the Furqan (the Qur'an)) He said, `Yes, O Messenger of Allah!' The Messenger of Allah said, (I hope that I will not leave through this door until you have learned it.) He (Ka`b) said, `The Messenger of Allah held my hand while speaking to me.

Al-Bukhari also records these hadiths as stated by Ibn Kathir, I will present the hadiths of Bukahri here.

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 1:

Narrated Abu Said bin Al-Mu'alla:

While I was praying in the Mosque, Allah's Apostle called me but I did not respond to him. Later I said, "O Allah's Apostle! I was praying." He said, "Didn't Allah say'--"Give your response to Allah (by obeying Him) and to His Apostle when he calls you." (8.24)

He then said to me, "I will teach you a Sura which is the greatest Sura in the Qur'an, before you leave the Mosque." Then he got hold of my hand, and when he intended to leave (the Mosque), I said to him, "Didn't you say to me, 'I will teach you a Sura which is the greatest Sura in the Quran?' He said, "Al-Hamdu-Lillah Rabbi-l-Alamin (i.e. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds) which is Al-Sab'a Al-Mathani (i.e. seven repeatedly recited Verses) and the Grand Qur'an which has been given to me."[2a]

and at another place

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 170:

Narrated Abu Said bin Al-Mu'alla:

While I was praying, Allah's Apostle passed me and called me, but I did not go to him until I had finished the prayer. Then I went to him, and he said, "What prevented you from coming to me? Didn't Allah say:-- "O you who believe! Answer the call of Allah (by obeying Him) and His Apostle when He calls you?" He then said, "I will inform you of the greatest Sura in the Qur'an before I leave (the mosque)." When Allah's Apostle got ready to leave (the mosque), I reminded him. He said, "It is: 'Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.' (i.e. Surat-al-Fatiha) As-sab'a Al-Mathani (the seven repeatedly recited Verses)."[2b]

Observations:

Here we see a muslim was praying to Allah in the mosque, Then Muhammad enters and calls him, since the Muslim is praying to Allah he neglects his call and continues to pray (quickly), and then after finishing his prayer, he gets to the prophet, the prophet seemingly upset asks the reason for not responding sooner, he replies "O Messenger of Allah! I was praying". On hearing this Muhammad quotes a verse from the Quran, "O you who believe! Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he () calls you to that which gives you life" and asks the muslim(s)'s attention whenever he calls him/them, even if they are in prayer to Allah. Rendering him more important than Allah.

Note, Muhammad didn't call him on for a very important issue that had to be immediately attended on the contrary Muhammad wanted to tell about the most beautiful verse in the Quran which he could have done at anytime. (the irony is Muhammad even forgot that he had to teach the surah and had to be reminded by the muslim) But Muhammad was so much desperate for attention, that he can't bear even the simplest signs of him being avoided, even if it would mean placing him higher than Allah.

He was desperate to rule over the minds of people which made him to invent an imaginary deity called Allah and through him gained access into the minds of poor Meccans & others who believed in him and gets things that he wanted done through Allah, but once he realized that this imaginary God of his gets more attention than himself he uses a revelation from Allah and places him at a more important position than Allah.

Some objections Answered:

When I raised this issue up with muslims, they obviously had to scramble up for the aid of their beloved prophet. I have answered these apologetics of muslims here.

Argument #1

Muhammad was a kind and a fair person who wanted none of the Muslims to feel avoided or rejected and would have done the same thing he proposed in the place of Ubayy bin Ka`b

Indeed, had he done or acted as he had proposed to the muslim, while he was in the place of the muslim that would have surely made sense vindicating Muhammad, but the question is did he? This moral relativist prophet would rather cite the same reason to a muslim for avoiding him! Al-Bukhari records the incident.

Volume 2, Book 22, Number 308:

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:

Allah's Apostle sent me for some job and when I had finished it I returned and came to the Prophet and greeted him but he did not return my greeting. So I felt so sorry that only Allah knows it and I said to myself,, 'Perhaps Allah's Apostle is angry because I did not come quickly, then again I greeted him but he did not reply. I felt even more sorry than I did the first time. Again I greeted him and he returned the greeting and said, "The thing which prevented me from returning the greeting was that I was praying." And at that time he was on his Rahila and his face was not towards the Qibla.[2c]

Muhammad ignores a muslims twice, that makes him feel sorry and amazingly cites the same reason that Ubayy bin Ka`b sought as an excuse. Muhammad was himself placed in such a situation but doesn't leave his prayer for his devote follower & still places him and what he does more important than others. But gets furious when he gets treated in the same way. This argument rather than helping the stance of the prophet has only managed to deteriorate his position.

Argument #2:

Surah Al-Fatihah, is one of the most greatest surah's of the quran, what is the prayer of a muslim worth without it? that's why the prophet did what he did.

There are many problems with this argument, firstly, had it been so important at that instance that Ubayy bin ka`b had to abandon his prayer to Allah or more correctly had to be reprimanded for not doing so, I don't understand the logic behind forgetting to teach the surah to Ubayy and needing a remainder from him.

Secondly, What does it tell about the nature of Islamic God? Not only does a person who prays needs to go through various processes like ablution before prayer, prostration during prayer, but also a particular surah would make his prayer more beneficial? what does one need for a sucessful prayer in Islam? a pure heart dedicated to God or recitation of particular surah?

Thirdly, Muslims claim Quran to be uncreated and eternal, how could a part of Quran be more important than another part which is equally eternal?

This excuse just goes to show the dogmatic nature of Islam than vindicating the prophet from placing him more important than Allah.

Conclusion:

These two instances from the life of the so called prophet, makes it more than evident that Muhammad was an imposter who placed himself above god and brainwashed people in the name of god.

I Have Lost Count! And You?

I Have Lost Count! And You?

peaceforever

When ever a Muslim extremist does what he is best at, rolling the heads of infidels of course. The Islamic clerics at infidel nations will swing into action to do what they are best at! That's right, Taqyyia! They quote verses from Quran for instance "No compulsion..." ( Q 2:256) and few other verses. They emphatically deny that Islam permits what the jihadi had just done. And one of their favorites is "Whoever kills a person …it is as though he has killed all mankind." (Q 5:32 ) So how could a religion that teaches this can instigate its followers to kill infidels? After all may be we got it wrong in our accusation of Islam or did we? Lets get to the bottom of this verse. Here is the verse in full:

For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men; and certainly Our apostles came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land. Q 5:32, Shakir

There are two issues at hand.

firstly, this was a ruling to the children of Israel! setting that aside

secondly, the verse says that this doesn't apply to those involved in "manslaughter or for mischief in the land"

The mischief makers the Quran points out to are none other than the infidels. The Quran here clearly describes the mischief makers here, it says "and certainly Our apostles came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land."

Allah says even after sending many apostles with clear proofs, many people still disbelieved there by ended up as transgressors. Given this, Q 5:32 verse is only applicable to Muslims. Let us get some scholarly view on this, renowned Quranic scholar Ibn kathir writes on this verse and its background:

Allah says, because the son of Adam killed his brother in transgression and aggression,

(We ordained for the Children of Israel...) meaning, We legislated for them and informed them,

(that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind.) The Ayah states, whoever kills a soul without justification -- such as in retaliation for murder or for causing mischief on earth -- will be as if he has killed all mankind, because there is no difference between one life and another.

(and if anyone saved a life...) by preventing its blood from being shed and believing in its sanctity, then all people will have been saved from him, so,

(it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind.) Al-A`mash and others said that Abu Salih said that Abu Hurayrah said, "I entered on `Uthman when he was under siege in his house and said, `I came to give you my support. Now, it is good to fight (defending you) O Leader of the Faithful!' He said, `O Abu Hurayrah! Does it please you that you kill all people, including me' I said, `No.' He said, `If you kill one man, it is as if you killed all people. Therefore, go back with my permission for you to leave. May you receive your reward and be saved from burden.' So I went back and did not fight.''' `Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn `Abbas said, "It is as Allah has stated,

(if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind.) Saving life in this case occurs by not killing a soul that Allah has forbidden. So this is the meaning of saving the life of all mankind, for whoever forbids killing a soul without justification, the lives of all people will be saved from him.'' Similar was said by Mujahid;

(And if anyone saved a life...) means, he refrains from killing a soul. Al-`Awfi reported that Ibn `Abbas said that Allah's statement,

(it would be as if he killed all mankind. .) means, "Whoever kills one soul that Allah has forbidden killing, is just like he who kills all mankind.'' Sa`id bin Jubayr said, "He who allows himself to shed the blood of a Muslim, is like he who allows shedding the blood of all people. He who forbids shedding the blood of one Muslim, is like he who forbids shedding the blood of all people.'' In addition, Ibn Jurayj said that Al-A`raj said that Mujahid commented on the Ayah,

(it would be as if he killed all mankind,) "He who kills a believing soul intentionally, Allah makes the Fire of Hell his abode, He will become angry with him, and curse him, and has prepared a tremendous punishment for him, equal to if he had killed all people, his punishment will still be the same.'' Ibn Jurayj said that Mujahid said that the Ayah,

(and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind.) means, "He who does not kill anyone, then the lives of people are safe from him.''

The verse applies to Muslims only, and is irrelevant in the case of unbelievers, if you kill a Muslim it is as if you kill the entire of mankind, and if you save one then you have saved the entire of mankind. Other revered tafsirs agree on this, Tafsir al-Jalalayn writes on Q 5:32,

Because of that, which Cain did, We decreed for the Children of Israel that whoever slays a soul for other than a soul, slain, or for, other than, corruption, committed, in the land, in the way of unbelief, fornication or waylaying and the like, it shall be as if he had slain mankind altogether; and whoever saves the life of one, by refraining from slaying, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind - Ibn 'Abbās said [that the above is meant] in the sense of violating and protecting its [a soul's] sanctity [respectively]. Our messengers have already come to them, that is, to the Children of Israel, with clear proofs, miracles, but after that many of them still commit excesses in the land, overstepping the bounds through disbelief, killing and the like. (Tafsir al-Jalalayn, online source)

And Ibn Abbas says in his tafsir,

(For that) because Cain wrongfully killed Abel (cause We decreed for the Children of Israel) in the Torah (that whosoever killeth a human being for other than man slaughter) i.e. premeditatedly (or corruption in the earth) or because of idolatry, (it shall be as if be had killed all mankind) Hell will be decreed for him for premeditatedly and wrongfully killing a human being, as though he killed all mankind, (and whoso saveth the life of one) whoever abstains from killing a person, (it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind) Paradise will be decreed for him for sparing one soul, as though he spared the lives of all mankind. (Our messengers came unto them) i.e. the Children of Israel (of old with clear proofs) with commands, prohibitions and signs, (but afterwards lo! many of them) the Children of Israel (became) after the messengers (prodigals in the earth) ascribing partners to Allah. (Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs, online source)

The verses primarily forbade killing of Muslims and doesn't have any sort of relevance in relation towards infidels, in fact the same verse gives them a go ahead signal to slay infidels.

Well, What about Muhammad?

Just assuming that this verse does include the entire of mankind, then what about Muhammad? He killed a 120 year old man, Abu Afak, just for criticizing him, and he kills a mother of five, `Asma' Bint Marwan, for similar reason. Split a old woman prisoner, Umm Qirfa, into two![1], killing a singing girl for mocking him. of course, he didn't kill them without any reason, they all the criticized him, mocked him, wasn't that enough a reason? well, I will let the readers decide! wasn't he killing mankind at each instance? (of course, thats only if you think mocking was not a big crime) and at one instance, Muhammad, had 600 - 900 Jewish prisoners of war who surrendered to him brutally murdered. Well, that implies the so called prophet had mankind killed 600 - 900 times in a single day! And there are many more and some one can begin to count actually how many times the so called prophet had mankind killed! I have lost the count! and you?

Women In Islam, in the light of Hadiths

Women In Islam, in the light of Hadiths

Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 28:

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

The Prophet said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful."It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you."

COMMENTS:

This Hadith shows the misogynistic view of the Islamic prophet. Some Muslim apologists claim that since women constitute a greater share in the World population than men (though some statistics say otherwise[1]), it is only logical that women constitute the majority in hell, but the Hadith in question doesn't say so. It says women are the majority in hell because they were ungrateful.

Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 3, Number 81:

Narrated Anas:

I will narrate to you a Hadith and none other than I will tell you about after it. I heard Allah's Apostle saying: From among the portents of the Hour are (the following):

1. Religious knowledge will decrease (by the death of religious learned men).

2. Religious ignorance will prevail.

3. There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse.

4. Women will increase in number and men will decrease in number so much so that fifty women will be looked after by one man.

COMMENTS:

The Islamic prophet's view of women was so bad that he thought that more women on the earth is a sign of Doom's day!

Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 148:

Narrated 'Aisha:

The wives of the Prophet used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqia at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. 'Umar used to say to the Prophet "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam'a the wife of the Prophet went out at 'Isha' time and she was a tall lady. 'Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of "Al-Hijab" (A complete body cover excluding the eyes).

COMMENTS:

The Hijab primarily seems to have been a deterrent with respect to Muhammad's wives. And rather than God's wish it seems to be Umar's wish!

END NOTES:

Who is a disbeliever?

Who is a disbeliever?

peaceforever

The Quran gives the story of fall of Iblis in the following verse:

And when We said unto the angels: Prostrate yourselves before Adam, they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He demurred through pride, and so became a disbeliever (alkafireena). Q 2:34, Pickthall

Here we see Iblis refusing to prostate due to pride. Iblis make his stance clear in the following verse:

He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! Q 15:33, Pickthall

Though this statement has pride in it, it is not without a reason. Iblis felt that it is not fit for him to prostate to a ordinary mortal. Though, he has disobeyed Allah's command (neglecting the fact that the command was not even pointed at him) this makes him disobidient, but how come a disbeliever as Q 2:34 puts it? He has spoken with Allah, he doesn't reject the fact he is his creator, so how come his is a disbeliever?

As if this is not enough even after this incident Iblis says he fears Allah, making it clear he still believed in god:

And (remember) when Shaitan (Satan) made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said, "No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am your neighbour (for each and every help)." But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he ran away and said "Verily, I have nothing to do with you. Verily! I see what you see not. Verily! I fear Allah for Allah is Severe in punishment." Q 8:48, Hilali-Khan

And at another place,

And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)." Q 14:22, Hilali-Khan

he even disowns those who worship him with Allah, recognizing Allah as the one and only god! so on what basis is he a disbeliever? Of course he is disobedient and haughty, but the quranic term of disbeliever for Iblis seems to be misplaced!

A special thanks to Cassandra who pointed out this contradiction of using a wrong term on Iblis!
